SRI MAHOTSAVAM

SRI MAHOTSAVAM

Values and valuables
Every element is inbuilt with use and benefits. Apart from these simple elements, there are special elements which gain immense value based on their uniqueness, necessity and emergency. Common parameters like scarcity, rarity, demand and craze also fix the value of a commodity.
When such products of nature and technology are branded as valuables, qualifiers in the forms of ability and character are glorified as ‘values’ of life. We often see mismatch between owners, their ‘ability and qualities’ and possessions, and their consequential social abnormities.

Highest order of wealth-Shri
Only divine force is capable of granting the resources along with principles and potential. These resources always are productive-Saphala-they can never go adverse or futile, have inherent multiplying ability-Samriddhi, and are endowed with power to lead us to all other benefits-Sarvatobhadra.

The paramount beauty of these resources is their ethical precision handled in their acquisition as well as possession and distribution. Contrary to common belief, practice and experience that massive fast wealth is acquirable only through short cuts, back door entries and wrong routes, this divine force establishes the possibility of positive and plentiful wealth.
At the same time, it should be noted that anything unendorsed by divine force will automatically be lost in a second counter or drained by our own desires and deeds. Such dirt in wealth form is accumulated only to pay heavy penalties for our misdeeds and they always prevent or nullify progress.
This force is what we pray, worship and surrender to, as ‘Shri’.

Different forms of wealth
Shri, being the highest order of wealth has got its subordinate standards also.
Earned wealth is called Vittam, ancestral grant as Dhanam, abundant wealth is Sampatti, huge fortunate shower is Nidhi, wealth acquired through rituals and religious exercises is Rayi and finally that which is bestowed by divine touch is Aishwarya, blessed by ‘Shri’.

In another dimensional view, dormant wealth is Vittam, growing one is Dhanam, that which is beneficial to the owner is Sampatti, wealth used and useful for social welfare is Nidhi, that which is applied for pious purposes like daana and dakshina is Rayi and wealth dedicated for divine service is Aishwarya.
The wealth endowed with moral discipline and generosity is Lakshmi’s gift and richness stocked by social offenders is Maya’s trap. We often mistake this trap for gift.

Current trend
In the equilibrium of resources, we see imbalances in both individual or family and social spheres. Simple and silly issues are prioritized and perennial benefits are ignored. Gain and growth of wealth are functioning at the cost of suppression and exploitation.
Society is infected with extreme ends of paucity and unruly prosperity. Rich and royal are healthless, issueless, helpless and merciless, thereby making their wealth insipid and futile.Wrong social shaping has made only crooks and their loyals to flourish and mute spectators to survive.
Reformers of all sects and sections are struggling to bring order in the society. But a slow but steady and robust spiritual transformation can be the only solution which can be brought by due planning and execution. Our tradition has gifted us with many rules and rituals for attaining all encompassed wealth.
Apart form self-centric applications, we have many effective worship methods to ward-off eco and Pluto-pollutants in the forms of eco-exploitation, black wealth and  corruption and ensure peace and prosperity in a global level. The best among such measures is “Sri Aradhana”, worship of Sri Lakshmi.

Our scriptures indicate the presence of a personified form and ruler for every force and substance, designated as ‘devata’. These celestial authorities are all controlled by a Supreme head. He is Sriman Narayana and His inseparable consort and companion is the most gracious and compassionate ‘Shri’ or ‘Mahalakshmi’.
The concept and deity status of ‘Shri’ is less understood and also misunderstood. She is embodiment of unconditional grace shower and also plays  the main role in making Him to pardon, protect and uplift His devotees. Such unique and super special qualities of ‘Shri’ are less known in the religious world.
At the same time, popular view regarding the portfolio and status of Shri Lakshmi is also narrow and erroneous. Mahalakshmi is considered and propagated as a wealth governing demigoddess, member of the holy feminine trinity, along with Saraswathy and Durga those who rule departments of knowledge and valour.
But “Shri’tatva, according to Vedas, is complete and comprehensive power that includes all attributes including wisdom and bravery as its subsections.

Worship of wealth
Everybody is attached with the world through their wishes and work approach. As Vedic literature declares immanence of deities in every object and force, and over all pervasion of Supreme, we attach ourselves with every element and entity not only through wish and work but also through special approach known as ‘Aradhana or worship’
Worshipping visible material representatives and holders is ‘amsaradhana and dravyaradhana. Cow, horse and sumangalis are worshipped as representatives of ‘Shri’ and elements like kumkum, turmeric, flowers are used for worship. Tulsi is worshipped as well as used for worship.
Worshipping concerned deity is ‘devataradhana’. Traditionally Agni, the firegod is prayed for wealth. Demigods like Indra, Kubera and Swarnabhairava are also worshipped for obtaining wealth.
Contemplating the prime deity instead of derivative channels is ‘atidevataradhana’.
Surrendering to the Supreme is ‘paradevataradhana’
Surrendering to ‘Supreme Sriman Narayana with Shri’ is termed as ‘mithunaradhana’ the best approach endorsed by scriptures and Acharyas.
Even if commenced as a result oriented venture, this form of worship will gradually promote spiritual maturity and perfection thereby making the aspirant a qualified recipient of all goodness and greatness.

Sri Mahotsava
Mahalakshmi Pooja is common in every household and there are also special festivals like Akshaya tritiya, Lakshmi pooja, Amruta Lakshmi vrata and ‘Phalguna utharaphalguni’-thayar avatarotsavam. Still, considering the need of a complete form of worship for global prosperity and order, based on authentic traditions and Sastras like Lakshmi Tantra, we have planned to organize a grand ‘Shri Mahotsava’ with the gracious guidance of saints and erudite scholars, and with the earnest support of philanthropic devotees at Mangalagiri on August 25th 2013.
