Indian Institute of Temple Management

Temple is a centre of learning, practice and experience of positive prowess that could configure, recharge and boost the neediest subtle resources of hope, courage, will, ethical feed and transcendental aid.  Being source of high level inspiration, system of temple aims not only in individual development but also cultivates, nourishes and safeguards understanding, peace and harmony in the society.

Temple is not just an object of faith but a systematic visible presentation of truth, unintelligible to perception and intellectual pursuit. It is extolled to be an access model of ‘Supreme inaccessible’ that which promotes faith into understanding and action.

Need for analysis
In this preternatural and exceptional deal of divine force and order, scriptures and their explanatory and implemental tradition serve as indomitable authority.  They are the only channels for comprehending divine immanence, deity manifestation, temple ‘structure, infra-structure, operation, administration, assimilation and remediation-restoration’ details. Hence, a thorough analysis of codes and principles is necessary for the purpose of
    • Evaluation of authenticity and screening of interpolations
    • Scientific Interpretation of equitability and efficiency of temple science
    • Obsoleteness and remodeling studies in tradition and rules

Inculcation
In modern scenario, temples are more found to be conflict and commercial centres. Lack of understanding of principles and procedures, in the priesthood community, fuelled by intentional ignorance of the visitors in knowing about temples, has made temples just shelters for interim solace and marginal benefits, or resorts for recreational festivals. Love and sincerity to serve and fear of sin and punishment, have been clouded only due to lack of understanding.

Nescience and irresponsibility of public have facilitated entry of spiritual and ritual illiterates to head, lead and conduct temple operations and traders to administer them. Even learned priests have to minimize and evade their duties due to ‘management and crowd pressure’ or negligence fostered by absence of proper supervision and verification.

Eventually, both the sacerdotal and administrative authorities focus on crowd attraction and extraction ventures rather than sanctity maintenance and real, perennial benefaction of public. In order to remediate these organizational maladies, a powerful and transforming inculcation pattern should be initiated.

Radiance
It should be understood that the radiance of the temple, a collective potential of order and discipline in all of its components, is the force that which grants safety, prosperity and peace to thousands of its believers, followers and loyals. But invariably, we see the focus on externals and ephemerals and infinitesimal attention is paid in even thinking about such a vital, fructifying factor and its restoration and sustenance. Public should be vivified with such awareness as they are longing beneficiaries. Those who are quality conscious and fight for consumer rights in silly and simple purchases should never compromise in this mega purchase of divine grace.

In order to reinstate active glory of temples and to reassemble social spiritual strength, an Institute of Temple Management (IITM) has been formed at Hyderabad. As a tool for enlightenment and empowerment of temple officials, priests, pilgrims, religious lecturers and general aspirants, an exhaustive curriculum has been designed with the following modules;
