Hundials
Dear Devotees,
Warm
and seasonal greetings from Sri Bhashyakara Charitable Trust.
As we
gear up for the celebration of the new Tamil Year “Nandhana” on 14th of April 2012, we would like to pass
on a gentle reminder to all of our prestigious hundial owners that the hard
earned and affectionately deposited amount should be submitted atleast a week
before the Tamil New Year day.
The
practice of saving money through a hundial is quite common in our society at
the households and temples. The concept behind though has been long forgotten
and hence Sri Bhashyakara Charitable Trust has taken up the task of educating,
creating awareness and reminding about this concept during every Tamil New year
so that this knowledge and practice is passed on to the upcoming generations as
well.
The
concept of hundial appears so simple but it abstracts a complex and wonderful
subject behind it which is known as “Destinal
Mathematics” (Vidhi, Karmic Theory as per our Shastras). According to the Shastras
destiny in not merely a set of fixed events in our life but is a package of
such destined events along with provisions to avoid, defer or mitigate the
same. This requires not merely an insight to the Shastras that deal with such
subjects but also a foresight of the future which not everyone is gifted with.
So, for
the laymen who apparently lack such a foresight, Shastras recommend that we
collect and store a portion of the results (credits) of our positive actions
and hard work for worst situations that may come in our future. These collected
credits pouring in from various individuals and families are then submitted to
an administration source which distributes the same to the needy (Charity) in a
periodic interval.
Thus
these hundial savings represent a commitment from us towards the charity in
future that would benefit the needy and it is this commitment that eventually
avoids, postpones or mitigates the currently awaiting dangers as per our
destiny. So, a current danger is managed by a future action that is guaranteed
by a present commitment in the form of hundial.
In
today’s world, money represents the results of our hard work and hence hundials
are used to store a portion of the money that we earn. It is not the quantum of
money that we save in the hundial that matters but the understanding and
commitment towards helping the needy thereby demonstrating our social
responsibility, in the form of even small savings, is more than sufficient to
yield exponential results. We all know that SBCT has recommended that a small
amount of Rs. 500 at the minimum could be saved per month in the hundial.
Hundials are made in different forms as
per the likes of the people. In the western world it is popular in the form of
pig and is known as piggy bank. Unlike favoring silly likes and dislikes, SBCT
has used the form of Lord Sri Lakshmi Narasimha who is the personification of
the protection offered to His devotees, thus associating the device (hundial)
that takes our request for protection with the Lord (Sri Lakshmi Narasimha) who
guarantees and offers the actual protection.
You
are fully aware that our SBCT acts as one of the mentioned administration
authorities and the total collection is diverted towards some significant
spiritual or social cause. Those who have not been able to attend to the
hundials in their busy schedule or those who have poor contribution can do
reasonable justice to the hundials by depositing something decent and donate, instead
of providing a simple or empty one.
Those
who have forgotten to get their hundials back or have lost them can receive new
hundials or just collect in any other format and hand over the same to Sri. Anantha Kumar (0 99406 88798) and
receive your receipts. Out-station people can deposit the same in Sri
Bhashyakara Charitable account mentioned below.
