Good Deeds

Good Deeds……

Charity-Culture and Philosophy

Everybody is engaged in some activity for profit, pleasure or kill time in futility. Our profit tasks are not fructified only by our intelligence, hard work, external support, influence and anonymous illogical fortune.  In fact, they are energized by such acts that benefit others and also us in return.
We have utmost concern for health, food, water, shelter, possessions, education, job and safety issues of our family. There are innumerable fellow beings which are deprived of basic access and qualifying abilities to obtain their planetary and citizen rights. A parallel track of attention and action for their welfare is subtle nourishment to our endeavours and hence a part of self sustenance and development.
A resourceful life is issued or assured by Almighty only with a condition that we should nourish and balance our surroundings, with our mite and should enrich and expand ourselves for intensifying our impact, , as a vital program of our life agenda.  But many people are nonparticipants in this assignment and few do some formal work.  The worst community is the exploiters who swindle others and common resources. They are branded as social parasites.  Apart from mere personal contributions, we should also motivate charity, accelerate social workers and eliminate exploitation.
In cosmic networking, every entity is linked with the other and is benefited or affected by the stability and suffering of others. Doing good or harm to others is doing the same to ourselves as those recipients are not only separate individuals but also extensions of our own substance.  Just as fire in the next hut embraces our roof, any social neglect will make us and our generations, victims of similar or different predicaments, soon or later. Likewise, positive force generated by our social concern and action will benefit our clan.
It is stated in the scriptures and experienced by all that salary, bonus and incentives in the form of resources and rewards are offered by nature to those who thrive for order and balance of the system and huge penalty of disorder and disasters is levied as collective curse and penalty for misuse, support and silent watches.
This parallel concern is not an option or praiseworthy achievement but an obligatory duty of every civilized human being. Charity literacy is the real indicator of civilization.
Charity is induced by sympathy.  But mere emotion like sympathy is insufficient to organize productive and perennial charity. In progressive charities, intelligence is needed for understanding genuineness and ability of the beneficiaries as well as analyzing nature of the problem and solution pattern.
Charity is a must for both resourceful and the needy. The former evinces his gratitude for divine bounty and thereby strengthens and safe guards his resources whereas needy by his possible charity terminates sins that block his survival and progress.
Social saviours ignore or renounce families to focus exclusively and effectively on social duties. Anyhow, for normal philanthropists, family members come in the first circle of liability, social liability lies in the second.

Movement for charity

‘Good deeds’ is a movement initiated by Sri Ramanuja Mission Trust to promote the culture of organized and holistic charity in the society to engineer and encourage saviours, philanthropists and also dynamic beneficiaries.  Good deeds are seeds for fortune, grace and all round well being
Like multi level marketing, charity chain can be formed with your friends, relatives and well wishers. This will facilitate service in multiples and divide charity load. We witness many clubs for fashion, sports, entertainment and even gambling. We need to mobilize helpers club to empower deserving members of the society and bring real joy.
We select and propose monthly ventures and inform our members after proper scrutiny and study. Members can also verify and provide their findings to us. Members have the freedom to place their advices and suggestions as well as initiate ‘good deeds’ chapter by themselves and report.

Charity Management

Good Deeds focuses on transparency and productivity of charities. It emphasizes direct and account dealing of transactions and provides access to statements for the members and public.
We have heard and seen many projects where allotted funds are wasted and diverted.
In many projects, local strengths like labour and other resources are disused or unidentified. This increases charity burden and fosters lethargy.  Many public infrastructure projects are undertaken without involving local labour and in few areas, charity demanders are found to be spending for luxury and entertainments beyond their means.
Apart from pure charity, Good deeds has plans to organize low interest and interest free microloans for diligent and capable members after proper survey of opportunities, resources, public involvement, responsibility and ability.
Many structures and products, donated with love and concern are found to be useless and deformed in a very short period due to lacking of care and regular usage, apart form quality deficits. This status is visible in toilets, schools, health centres and colonies offered for public in rural areas. Hence ‘Good deeds’ also keeps regular tracking of proper use, maintenance and safety of its sincere offerings. It also demands undertaking from the receivers for the same and extended supports are assured only to ethical and effective users of its charity.

Deed for the month

January 2013 starts with the noble charity of organizing Borewell water, pipeline, storage tank, purifier and tap facilities for Kottaputhur, a resource less remote village with a population of 250 families, 5 Kms from Vellimalai block of Kalvarayanmalai, 60 kms from kallakkurichi.
Water is not only a supporting agent but a life drink and elixir. Water borne disease disable social health as well as economy. Sufficient pure water is the planetary right of every denizen and our duty is to organize the same for the deprived, by all possible means.
